Task Force Keeps Monitoring Industrial Emission Sources in Jakarta

The Jakarta Air Pollution Control Task Force consisting of the Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency and the East Jakarta Environment Sub-agency in synergy with Polda Metro Jaya again monitored factory chimney operations in East Jakarta, Tuesday (9/26).

We must thoroughly monitor all industries

This time, the factory inspected was PT CIF, an animal feed manufacturing company.

Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said this operation is a routine monitoring in the context of inventorying and curbing non-moving emission air pollution in Jakarta.

Air Quality in Jakarta This Thursday is in the Medium Category

"Our team keeps monitoring industrial chimneys which have the potential to be a source of air pollution in Jakarta," he said, Wednesday (9/27).

He explained the East Jakarta area was the target for the operation as the area has many industries and has the potential to become one of the contributors to stationary emission sources in Jakarta.

So far, his party keeps monitoring industries, especially those that still use coal fuel in their operations, especially in administrative areas that have industrial areas, such as East Jakarta and North Jakarta.

"So, we must thoroughly monitor all industries, especially those that still use coal. This monitoring is also part of the socialization of the Jakarta Government's target, which by 2030 all industries in Jakarta must have low emissions," he asserted.

Based on monitoring data from the Jakarta Environment Agency's Air Quality Monitoring Station, East Jakarta is one of the regions that has the highest average Air Pollution Standard Index compared to other regions.

"Anything that has the potential to pollute air quality will be monitored, and this operation is a form of monitoring. If it is proven that there is a violation, we'll impose sanctions, even revoking the environmental permit," he stated.
